Twenty one years ago, a certain young man spent a lot of time steaming a Chinese fortune cookie. His dad helped him get the new slip of paper situated just so inside and steam the edges shut.
When they went to dinner, he and a certain young lady swapped cookies as they always did going out to Chinese. He had made sure that she got the special one. It read “Will you marry me?” What do you think? She said yes.
Fortune? I think not.
Twenty one years ago today, my mom agreed to marry my dad.
