A conversation

"Hey, Lena" - Emily holds out  her hands, finger tips together - "Cut the cake!"

She cuts the cake.  "belly-ache"

"Cut the pickle!" - holding out index fingers together.

She cuts the pickle - "tickle-tickle"

"My turn!"  Lena holds out the cake. "Cut the cake!"

Emily does so.

She holds out the pickle.  "Cut the pickle!"

Emily does.

She holds out the... pie?  "Cut the pie!"

Oka-a-ay.  Why not?

She holds out her hands and cradles it gently.  "Cut the ... baby!"

Nuh-uh.  No way.

[insert careful explanation to three-year-old why that is not the way to play]

Sounds like someone got the story of Solomon's wisdom wrong.

Terribly, terribly wrong.

Come on, laugh, it's hilarious!

or maybe I'm just tired.  Make that very tired.

I even laughed at Rebekah's "camel's eye".  She meant the eye of the needle, but it somehow got tangled up in the "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle" bit in Jesus' story.
